“BASIC”
The purpose of BASIC is to advance the public
safety and welfare of the residents of the Town of Barnstable by
making certain environmental information and controls available
for the benefit of children and those who care for children.
The Town will make available public records that identify the
following:

Areas
where hazardous materials have been released within the Town
-
Locations of motor vehicle collisions within the Town
-
Reports
on the presence of Eastern Equine Encephalitis within the
Town
-
Residence restrictions for
some level 2 and 3 registered sex offenders

Accidents Injury

Locations of
motor vehicle accidents with personal injuries for calendar year
2006. This map shows individual accident locations in addition
to accident “hot spots”. Accident hot spots are shaded areas
that illustrate the relative density of accidents throughout the
Town. Areas with a darker shading indicate a higher density of
accidents than areas with a lighter shading.

Pedestrians

Locations of
motor vehicle accidents involving pedestrians for calendar year
2006. This map shows individual accident locations in addition
to accident “hot spots”. Accident hot spots are shaded areas
that illustrate the relative density of accidents throughout the
Town. Areas with a darker shading indicate a higher density of
accidents than areas with a lighter shading.

Locations of
motor vehicle accidents (all accident categories) for calendar
year 2006. This map shows individual accident locations in
addition to accident “hot spots”. Accident hot spots are shaded
areas that illustrate the relative density of accidents
throughout the Town. Areas with a darker shading indicate a
higher density of accidents than areas with a lighter shading.
Haz
Spills

Locations of
hazardous material spill sites that have been reported to the
Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. This map
highlights parcels of land where hazardous materials have been
released. Each site on the map is labeled with a DEP
status code that indicates the status of remedial actions at the
site. For details on any particular site, contact the

BASIC Buffers

Map
illustrating 2000’ buffer zones around facilities that provide
services to children. This map is pursuant to
§ 147-12 (C) of the General
Ordinances that states “No person designated as level 2 or 3
under the provisions of MGL c. 6, § 178K(2), in whole or in part
by reason of a sexual offense against a child shall take up
residence apart from a person related by blood or marriage
within the first degree of kindred within the Town within 2,000
feet of the boundaries of land containing a facility with the
principal purpose of providing services to a child.”
Level3 Offenders

Locations of registered level 3 sex offenders. This map shows
the reported home and work locations of registered level 3 sex
offenders within the Town. For details and a full listing of
